Steel is the most important material in modern industry. China is the world's largest steel producer, and its steel production accounts for more than 50% of the world. With the acceleration of global economic integration, global steel demand is increasing year by year. As the largest steel producer, China provides steel materials for global industrial construction and gradually cooperates with various countries to build steel projects. 1. Indonesia

(1) Guangxi Guixin Steel Indonesia Qingshan Industrial Park built a new 1.8 million tons of special steel production line.

(2) Tsingshan Group builds a steel plant with a production capacity of 3 million tons in Indonesia.

(3) Delong Group builds the largest steel plant in Southeast Asia in Indonesia, with an estimated production capacity of 20 million tons.

2. Philippines

(3) Baowu Group Zhongnan Steel and Xintiangang had in-depth exchanges on the Philippine Baodefeng Steel Cooperation Project. The project will create an automated, intelligent and green long-process integrated steel plant, with an estimated annual steel production of 15.7 million tons.

(4) Chongqing Wanda Thin Plate also invested US$3.5 billion in the Philippines to build the first comprehensive steel plant in the country's history.

3. Malaysia

(1) Fujian Wugang Group and Guangxi Shenglong Metallurgy have built a joint steel base with an annual output of 3.5 million tons in Malaysia, and are planning to reach a production capacity of 10 million tons in the future.

(2) Jianlong Group holds Malaysia Donggang, and plans to build Donggang into Malaysia's most competitive steel joint venture with a total production capacity of 5 million tons in the future.

(3) A large-scale modern comprehensive steel enterprise led by Hebei Wu'an Iron and Steel Group and planned to jointly invest in the construction of MCC Group. As the general contractor of the project's design, procurement and construction (EPC), MCC Group plans to adopt overall planning and phased implementation, and ultimately achieve a production scale of 10 million tons of steel. The total investment in the first phase of the project is 13 billion ringgit (approximately RMB 21.442 billion), and a 5 million ton long process production line will be launched, with the main products being hot coils and plates.

4. Thailand

(1) The Thai hot-rolled strip project of Delong Steel Co., Ltd. was completed and put into production in 2015. The total investment of the project is US$48 million, with an annual design production capacity of 300,000 tons of general carbon strip steel, 150,000 tons of high-quality carbon strip steel, and 150,000 tons of low-alloy strip steel.

(2) China's "Xinkeyuan" Steel Co., Ltd. invests in Thailand to increase its output by 12 million tons of steel.

(3) Yongjin Technology Group invested 500 million yuan in Thailand to build a precision stainless steel plate and belt project with an annual production capacity of 260,000 tons to fill the gap in the supply of high-end stainless steel in the local area.

5. Vietnam

(1) The "annual processing of 260,000 tons of precision stainless steel belts" project by Yongjin Co., Ltd. in northern Vietnam.

(2) The Vietnam Hejing Iron and Steel Project designed by China Metallurgical Science and Technology Corporation (hereinafter referred to as MCC Group) has been successfully put into production. This milestone event not only marks the first time that MCC Group has achieved the full industrial chain design and output of a tens of million-ton green space steel system in the world.

(3) On June 3, 2025, Star Technology issued an announcement that the company plans to invest in and establish a company in Vietnam. The company will gradually invest in the construction of the "annual output of 150,000 tons of high-performance prestressed steel strand project" based on specific situations such as market demand and business progress.

(4) Laojie Iron and Steel Plant was jointly built by Vietnam Iron and Steel Corporation and China Kunming Iron and Steel Group. Construction started in April 2011 and completed and put into production in 2014. It was the largest steel production plant in Vietnam at that time, with a total investment of more than US$335 million.

However, due to a variety of reasons, the factory has suspended production since 2022 for nearly three years. It was not until the afternoon of April 26, 2024 that the Laojie Iron and Steel Plant officially restarted the blast furnace, marking the beginning of the full resumption of production of the factory.

6. Myanmar

Kunsteel Group has created an international production capacity cooperation project between Myanmar and China Steel. The project plans to build a full-process steel plant with an annual production capacity of 4 million tons (2 million tons/year in the first phase, and 2 million tons/year in the second phase).

7. Cambodia

Baosteel Packaging has invested in the construction of an intelligent aluminum two-piece can production line in the Jiahua Industrial Park in Cambodia, and the project has been put into production in 2023. This is the fourth overseas two-piece can production base of Baosteel Packaging after its production base in Pingyang, Vietnam, Hue and Malaysia.

8. Laos

Lao Mining Company and Hong Kong Tianyunda International Trading Company signed a memorandum of understanding on the construction of China-Laos steel mills. The steel mill is located in the Special Economic Zone of Taqu County, Ganmeng Province, Laos, with a total area of ​​about 126 hectares.

9. Bangladesh

Kungang plans to invest in the construction of a steel plant with an annual output of 2.7 million tons.

10. Pakistan

(1) Yaxing Steel invests in the construction of a steel plant with an annual output of 2 million tons here.

11. Iran

MCC Group wants to spend US$347 million to build a steel plant with an annual output of 1 million tons.

12. Iraq

Tsingshan Holdings Group and the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Mining jointly signed two cooperation agreements in Basra, southern Iraq. The signing of the contract marks that the two parties will jointly build a large steel complex and industrial city in the region, jointly build a 1 million tons of sponge iron production capacity, and plan to invest more than US$2 billion in the industrial city project.

13. Saudi

(1) Baosteel Co., Ltd.'s first overseas full-process steel production base was established in Saudi Arabia. On May 1, 2023, Baosteel Co., Ltd. officially signed a contract with Saudi Aramco and Saudi Public Investment Fund, and will jointly invest in the establishment of a joint venture to build a steel production base in Saudi Arabia. The base is positioned to produce high-end thick plate products with an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons. It is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2026. It mainly serves many fields such as oil and gas, shipbuilding, and offshore engineering in the Middle East and North Africa.

(2) On August 16, 2022, Xintian Steel Group and Tianjin TEDA Investment Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as TEDA Holdings) held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony, marking the entry of a new stage of cooperation between the two parties in Saudi Arabia's annual output of 10 million tons of short-process steelmaking projects and the construction of characteristic steel industrial parks.

(3) Reported on May 18, 2025, Saudi Watania Industrial Co., Ltd. signed a contract with China Donghexin Group to build the first steel plate factory with an annual output of 400,000 tons of tinplate and Wuxi in the eastern Lashair Industrial City, which is scheduled to be put into production in mid-2027.

14. Oman

In October 2024, Jinnan Iron and Steel Group joined hands with Vale, the world's leading iron ore company, to jointly announce the construction of an iron ore ore dressing base in the Suhar port and free zone of Oman. The project is expected to invest more than $600 million, of which Vale will invest $227 million to connect the ore dressing plant with local reunion facilities, while Shannan Steel will invest about $400 million to build and operate the ore dressing plant.

15. Kazakhstan

(1) Fujian Hengwang Investment Co., Ltd. plans to build a 3 million tons short-process comprehensive steel plant in Kazakhstan.

(2) Tianjin Youfa Steel Pipe Group Co., Ltd. plans to build a straight seam steel pipe manufacturing plant in the southern special economic zone of Chimkent City. The estimated total investment is more than US$70 million, and the factory designed annual production capacity is 200,000 tons.

16. Uzbekistan

Lida Metal Technology Co., Ltd., invested and built by Jiangsu Huaiye Technology Company, was put into production in 2019 with an annual output of 500,000 tons.

17. Egypt

(1) Wu'an will invest in the construction of a short-process steel plant with an annual output of 2 million tons here.

 (2) Xinfeng Steel (Egypt) Co., Ltd. and the Suez Canal Economic Zone Administration (SCZone) work together to build a grand industrial production complex in the Ainsuchna Comprehensive Area in Egypt. The project covers a vast area of ​​3.75 million square meters, with an estimated investment of up to US$1.65 billion.

18. Kenya

Rongtai Iron and Steel Company, as the first steel plant in Kenya, has now started production. The company has four sets of medium-frequency furnace equipment and one set of continuous casting and rolling equipment. The company mainly produces rebar and related products, with an annual output of 300,000 tons.

19. Tanzania

The largest steel production enterprise in China is the Kiruya Steel Group, jointly built by Tanzania-China, with an existing production capacity of about 300,000 tons.
